Build and Share: Developing CiviCRM extensions

CiviCRM v4.2 introduces an ambitious set of new features for developing extensions. In previous releases, developers were forced to choose between developing small, feature-limited CiviCRM extensions -- or developing more powerful customizations that were tightly coupled to their CMS (Drupal 6, Drupal 7, or Joomla). CiviCRM 4.2 bridges this gap by providing more power and consistency -- and it enables development of full-featured, native modules.

This tutorial session will introduce new tools and APIs from CiviCRM v4.2, including:

* Expanded APIs for mixing Javascript, CSS, and HTML into existing pages
* Simpler, more consistent ways to register components (such as reports and payment processors)
* The "civix" development tool
* The in-app distribution system
